The Destroyer: Jumps, Stands, and Turns Around!

Nathan (the destroyer) totally tore apart the bar with the hanging toys on his bouncer last night. He pulled it toward him so hard that one end popped off. Then kept pulling until the other end popped off as well. He kept doing that over and over again. Good thing we purchased the protection plan on it. What will he tear apart next?!

We can’t believe it- he took a couple of jumps in the evening. Yup, both feet off the ground at the same time! Daddy saw it and said that he did it twice in a row. Can’t believe how quickly he’s doing things!

Also saw him stand up by himself from a sitting position. He was just sitting there and then I guess he wanted to walk over to us so he got into a kneeling position and before you know it, he was standing.

He also did a 360 turn all by himself from a standing position. He’s been walking straight and occasionally turning toward the direction he wants to go. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. But, yesterday, I guess he wasn’t sure where he wanted to go so he stood there and turned in a circle. It was pretty cute.

From all the activity, it’s no surprise that he conked his head a few times. He’ll probably have some nice bumps in the morning, but I guess that’s the price babies pay for learning! He’s a tough spud though- a few bumps here and there won’t stop or slow him down!

Walking! Talking! Teeth!

Nathan is walking now! He started about 2 weeks ago, taking a few steps here and there. But, last week, he took more and more steps and was able to stop himself midway to regain his balance. This week, in fact, it was just yesterday, I witnessed him running! I looked up from what I was doing when I heard the faster than normal pitter-patter. That’s when I saw him running. We always thought he was going to run first before he learned how to walk– it may turn out to be true!Nathan has also been “talking” more and more. He tends to be very vocal in the evenings or after meals. Yesterday, we were playing with the new toy his Auntie Judy had gotten him. It’s a doggie that teaches the parts of the body and plays songs. I had pressed the foot and after the doggie said “foot”, Nathan said “fud”. I tried to get him to say it again, but it was a one time deal.

He also has 4 upper teeth coming in at the same time. That will make it a total of 6 teeth– he has 2 bottom ones already. Because of his teething, he’s been gnawing at things. He’s put some deep marks on his nice (and expensive!) crib. We had to purchase not one, but two rail protectors for it! We would rather him gnaw on that instead. His nickname is now “Beaver”.
